Delftware: a love affair in blue and white

Delft may be the spiritual home of Dutch ceramics but a weekend in Amsterdam still has much to offer. Delftware, also known as Delft blue, has been made in the Netherlands since the 1600s and still made today.

First on my itinerary was the Royal Delft Experience at Muntplein. Here you can see a wide variety of Royal Delft and even a demonstration of it being decorated.

As well as the traditional Delftware, contemporary re-interpretations can also be found – I particularly like this simple design:

All over Amsterdam Delftware themed souvenirs can be found.
